02COMMON QUESTIONS
Does Diegema cost anything? Are there ads?
No. It is free, with no ads, no in-app purchases and no account.
Where do the books come from?
From LibriVox (librivox.org), recorded by volunteers and hosted on the Internet Archive. We strongly support LibriVox and its mission; if you enjoy the recordings, consider volunteering to read or proof-listen. Diegema is not affiliated with or endorsed by LibriVox or the Internet Archive, so please do not contact them about the app.
A book will not load or play.
Check your connection and try again; archive.org can occasionally be slow or busy. If a download is stuck, open Downloads and retry or resume it. If a downloaded book cannot be read, use Re-download on the book.
Can I listen offline?
Yes. Download a book first; your place is saved on the device. Your own files and folders play offline too.
Can I move my place between devices?
Not in this version. Progress is kept per device.
I lost my place.
Progress is saved per book on your device. If you uninstall the app or clear its data, progress is removed (on Android it may be restored from your device backup). Downloaded audiobooks saved in a shared folder (Android 11+: Audiobooks/Diegema; Windows: Audiobooks\Diegema in your user folder; a Mac folder you chose) are not removed by uninstalling; delete them yourself if you want the space back.
A local book has no cover.
Diegema looks for a cover inside the file and in its folder. To search online, open the book's "..." menu and choose "Find cover online"; that sends the title and author to archive.org and Open Library. It never does this on its own.
How do I add my own audiobooks?
In the Library, choose to add a folder or files (MP3, M4A, FLAC, WAV). Diegema reads them where they are and never changes them. If you move a folder, add it again.
What data do you collect?
None. See the Privacy Policy.
How do I delete my data?
Remove books in the app, or uninstall it. Nothing is stored anywhere else.
